Let’s have a safe Halloween everyone!
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As Halloween approaches, everyone has a responsibility to themselves to make sure you’re enjoying the day safely, so here are some tips for the holiday.
News 40 spoke to Lee Coleman of Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers, who said that there are three things of importance in his mind. Liability for drivers, parental supervision, and homeowners who might be at fault for accidents.
Coleman told News 40 that his message to drivers would be to do their best to remember that this coming Tuesday is Halloween. Coleman said it might not occur to many people till they’re on their way home and they happen to come across children in the road, so maybe “tie an orange string around your steering wheel” or whatever you can do to best remember that the holiday is coming up.
Coleman also said parents need to be in defense mode and assume there might be some reckless or forgetful drivers out there and to make sure their children aren’t too close to the road as well as encouraging homeowners to make sure their property is free of hazards.
News 40 also spoke to Dr. Suman Shekar with Med Center Health, who said as a mother herself she knows its hard to keep kids from candy, but as a parent it’s important to do your best with enforcing and discussing portion control and moderation.
