BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – June 24 is World Refugee Day, and a celebration took place in Lampkin Park.

Staff at the International Center of Kentucky said there was a celebration dedicated to the members of the international community with food, music and games. World Refugee Day aimed to take notice of those who are looking to build a better life as they celebrated with dances within their culture, as well as traditional food.

Purdue Farms also donated $50,000 to the International Center of Kentucky to help break the transportation barrier for refugee seeking employment. The money helped purchase a van and a school bus, which will be used to help refugees get to and from work and to job interviews.
