UPDATE: Explosion reported at industrial facility in Simpson County

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Officials say they responded to an explosion at R3 Industrial on East Cedar Street in Simpson County on Wednesday that could be felt blocks away.

Franklin-Simpson Fire & Rescue says it got a call around 10:14 a.m. about a fire at the industrial laundry and dry cleaning business.

Police say all employees were safely evacuated.

After an investigation, fire officials said they determined chemical fumes on rags inside of a dryer ignited nearby dust particles, causing the fire.

One employee standing near the dryer had minor injuries, officials say.
