New downtown parking maps to be added soon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Neighborhood and Community Services has finished sifting through the data they gathered this summer during their parking survey and they have begun taking action.

New maps will soon be available that will allow visitors downtown to park with purpose and confidence that their cars will not be towed from city lots.

Telia Butler with Neighborhood and Community Services says that the city has been working with other cities, such as Greenville, South Carolina, to learn from their mistake and make the best decisions for Bowling Green when it comes to parking. This takes into account the needs of pedestrians, drivers and the businesses they visit while also making sure the area can handle large events.

“It’s never going to stop. There is never going to be the okay, we’re done. That’s it. That’s the answer. We’re leaving it here. But identify what all of these are and kind of diagnosing issues along the way and reaching out to counterparts in other cities that have that exact same issue has been really helpful,” Butler said.
