Over $3,200 in merchandise recovered during Bowling Green shoplifting operations

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department says pre-planned shoplifting operations have resulted in multiple arrests and several thousand dollars in recovered merchandise.

Police say the joint effort with the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association and local loss prevention personnel led to two operations.

During this time, police say they not only recovered over $3,200 in merchandise from those charged, they also learned information about counterfeit currency.

Loss prevention personnel also intercepted the theft of more than $5,000 in merchandise without police intervention, police say.

Police say seven individuals were arrested in relation to shoplifting in addition to five people who were cited. Police say three people will face shoplifting charges when located.

According to BGPD, 16 people are banned from several retail businesses for involvement in theft, six people were served felony warrants, three people served misdemeanor warrants and four people were charged with drug offenses.

The identities of those involved have not been released at this time.
