FRANKLIN, Ky. – Two men have been sentenced in connection with a fatal overdose reported last December.

The South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force says agents worked with Franklin Police Department detectives and the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office to arrest Jeris Carver, 30, and Jonathan Gipson, 32, both of Franklin, Kentucky, during an investigation.

The drug task force says the overdose reported on Dec. 27, 2022 took place off of Fritz Winter Drive and resulted in one death.

On Dec. 15, authorities say Carver pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years. Nine years of that sentence stems from a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives), first offense, and the other fives years originate from a reckless homicide charge.

Gipson pleaded guilty the same day and was sentenced to five years for trafficking in a controlled substance (drug unspecified).
