Former WKU professor, Civil Rights Advocate passes away

A former WKU professor and Civil Rights movement activist has passed away after a long battle with heart disease.

Alan Anderson was a professor at the university for 27 years in the department of philosophy and religion, according to his obituary.

In August of 1962, Anderson was heavily involved with the Civil Rights Movement, in which he joined a nonviolent protest to end segregation in Albany, Georgia at the invitation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., according to his obituary.

Anderson is survived by his wife Denise, two daughters and four grandchildren.

Anderson was 83 years old.
