9/11 appreciation luncheon held for first responders

On this day 17 years ago, a devastating terrorist attack shook the country.

That’s when two hijacked airlines crashed into the Twin Towers in New York.

Then a third into the Pentagon, and a fourth into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

It’s important to remember all of those who lost their lives and the first responders who sacrificed their own lives that day.

Which is why one local church held their 17th annual First Responders Appreciation Lunch this afternoon in Bowling Green.

It took place at the Forest Park Baptist Church.

All local first responders in Bowling Green and Warren County were invited.

There were also children from Anchored Christian School who sang the National Anthem every half hour.

The host of the luncheon, Marieca Brown, says local first responders should never go unappreciated.

Brown says she hopes more local organizations will offer opportunities like today’s luncheon to first responders.
