Hot Rods get back on track with win at Whitecaps

The Bowling Green Hot Rods got back on the winning track tonight, defeating the West Michigan Whitecaps 13-1. Six different Hot Rods had multi-hit games, with SS Taylor Walls leading the way with a four hit night.

The Hot Rods got going in the second inning, as they sent seven batters to the plate, scoring four runs. The inning was highlighted by RBI hits from Walls, DH Trey Hair, and 1B Jim Haley.

Bowling Green broke the game open in the third, when they scored six runs, sending 10 batters to the plate. LF Moises Gomez hit an RBI triple and CF Emilio Gustave also had an RBI double, swelling the lead to 10-0.

The Whitecaps earned their run in the bottom of the fourth on back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning. The Hot Rods added two in the fourth and one in the fifth to round out the scoring.

The Hot Rods will look to make it two wins in a row tomorrow night at 7:05pm Eastern at Fifth Third Ballpark. RHP Alex Valverde (4-3, 4.55) will get the start for Bowling Green, while West Michigan will counter with RHP Jesus Rodriguez (4-3, 4.14).
