Bowling Green Girls Soccer GK Bailey Cross named to All-American Scholar Team
The United Soccer Coaches announced the 2017-18 High School Scholar All-American Awards on Thursday, and one player from Warren County, and Kentucky as a whole, was recognized for her work both on and off the field.
Bowling Green Lady Purples Goalkeeper Bailey Cross was one of 55 girls to receive recognition for her ability to excel both on the pitch as well as in school. A recent graduate, Cross posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during her senior year at BGHS. Her most impressive performances, though, came on the soccer field.
Cross was a four year player on varsity, recording 29 shutouts between the posts during that span, and finishing her career with a record of 66 wins, 13 losses, and seven ties. Cross and her teams advanced to the state tournament three times, including one finish in the Elite 8.
Back in February, she signed her letter of intent and committed to continue playing soccer, only this time at the collegiate level for the University of Illinois-Springfield.
Cross, as well as the other recipients of All-American status, will be formally recognized during the United Soccer Coaches All-American Luncheon in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention from January 9-13, 2019 in Chicago. Details for the luncheon and how to register will be released in the fall.
