BGHS hires new baseball coach
Nathan Isenberg, who previously coached baseball and taught at Henderson County High School, was offered the head coaching position Monday and formerly accepted the BGHS job Tuesday morning, Bowling Green Independent School District Athletic Director D.G. Sherrill said.
Isenberg is a graduate of Warren East who played baseball for Western Kentucky University. In his new job at BGHS he will coach and teach social studies and history.
Isenberg is replacing Matt Myers who resigned at the end of the BGHS season to pursue coaching opportunities at the college level, Sherrill said.
He will start in August. Baseball season officially starts Feb. 15.
“He’s won four regional championships,” Sherrill said. “He’s been to the final four and a state championship game, close to 300 wins as a head coach. He’s got a tremendous amount of energy for this job.
“It’s a destination job for him. He’s a local guy so he will be here for the next 10 to 12 years or longer. He’s well respected amongst his peers and will be a tremendous asset to our school not only as our baseball coach but also as a social studies teacher,” Sherrill said.
