Louisville highway reopens after fire causes closure
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WLKY) – Traffic was impacted on Interstate 64 West after a massive fire in the Portland neighborhood shut it down for several hours on Wednesday.
It was closed from about 5 until 11:30 a.m. in the morning. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet had to inspect the overpass portion of I-64 there to make sure there was no threatening damage.
According to the Louisville Fire Department, a vacant commercial building at 16th Street and Northwestern Parkway caught on fire a little before 5 a.m.
The incident was close enough to the I-64 overpass that the road had to be shut down. It was closed all the way from the Ninth Street to the 22nd Street exit.
