How to prevent frozen pipes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Winter weather can be devastating to the water pipes inside your home. There are, however, many ways to prevent this damage.
For starters, Brad Evans from On Target Cleaning and Restoration recommends opening up the cabinets in your home when the weather is coldest. This allows the ambient air temperature in the home to warm the pipes.
Another thing to do is to drip the taps when it is extremely cold. The movement of water does not allow it to freeze.
“You may not be able to prevent the freeze, but you can prevent excess damage just by knowing and educating yourself for who’s going to be watching your house, maybe have a house sitter knowing where that main water shut off is so you can prevent excessive damage to your home,” Evans said.
