Eight-year-old boy swept away by floodwaters in Rowan County

(LEX 18) – Authorities in Kentucky are searching for a missing eight-year-old who may have been swept away by floodwaters into a storm drain.

Rowan County officials say both he and a 12-year old boy fell inside, however, the other boy was able to get out.

Crews have been on the scene searching high and low but are having no luck because of the weather.

Severe storms are causing roads and creeks to flood.

Rescue officials say they are not giving up but do want to make sure they are being safe during the search.
