Tinkergarten comes to Bowling Green for the first time
It might be cooling off outside but that won’t stop kids from wanting to learn.
Today some were immersed in the sights and sounds of nature all while learning to appreciate the world around them.
They also gained skills that they will carry with them as they grow.
Earlier this morning at the Cave Mill House at Lost River Cave was the first free trial of Tinkergarten in Bowling Green.
Tinkergarten is a national program started years ago by an educator and technologist in the northeast.
It’s an early childhood education program that focuses on play-based learning in the outdoors, and nature is the classroom.
Each season focuses on a different skillset, and there will be six led classes this fall.
This allows kids to get messy and creative while outdoors.
This fall self-control and focus is the skillset.
Tinkergarten is designed for kids 18 months to 8-years-old.
We spoke to the Tinkergarten Leader for today’s class Nicole Magera.
Magera says the wonders of nature really stimulate a child’s growth and imagination.
If parents want to experience Tinkergarten, classes will be starting on October 1st.
There will be six weeks of classes on Saturdays or Mondays at 10:00 am.
It will be at the Nature Explore Area at Lost River Cave.
There are a few more free trial classes left.
